LIVE-WORKCOMPLEX
The historical urban fabric of Liège, characterized by terraced construction, informs the foundation of my design vision. Embracing the city's pronounced topographical variations, my plan integrates these natural features into a harmonious blend of landscape and urban space. The design concept envisions a building that seamlessly flows from the mountains into the city, dissolving the boundaries between nature and the built environment.
This vision transforms a low-quality public parking lot into a vibrant space where greenery infiltrates the urban core, enhancing livability. Supported by two pedestals, the structure creates a public realm where work and leisure intertwine, fostering community engagement. At the heart, or 'belly', of the building, the interplay of nature, architecture, and daily life cultivates a sense of belonging, offering residents a tranquil yet dynamic urban oasis.
