POETRY OF STRUCTURE

Poetry of Structure is a utopian exploration of collective living, designed for an extraordinary location: an abandoned coal bridge. The structure of the bridge plays a central role in the concept. Its two imposing piers serve as the metaphor for my design. The shadowed northern side of the bridge symbolizes night, while the sunlit southern side represents day. The bridge is literally envisioned as a transitional zone between these two realms.

The sleeping tower, connected by the bridge, contrasts with the daytime functions on the opposite side. This design introduces a clear division of functions between day and night, making living a dynamic and active part of life. The light wooden structure starkly contrasts with the robust, massive piers.

The design is steeped in craftsmanship, blending traditional Japanese woodworking techniques with the organic complexity of Neapolitan staircase systems. The result is a harmony of craft and poetry.
