STUDY GENIUS LOCI

Abstract
This paper explores the exciting interaction between traditional building methods and modern architecture. The aim is to understand how ancient techniques and materials can be reused in contemporary construction projects, not only to be more environmentally friendly but also to develop buildings that are richer in meaning and connected to their historical roots.

The focus of this study is on the innovative work of Amateur Architecture Studio, led by Wang Shu and Lu Wenyu. This architectural firm has made a name for itself by successfully blending traditional elements of Chinese architecture with modern design trends. The paper delves deeper into how their designs are not only ecologically sustainable but also incorporate cultural, aesthetic, and social values, making their work unique and influential in the contemporary architectural landscape.

The research aims to analyze in detail how traditional building practices can find a new place in modern architecture. This includes a critical look at how Amateur Architecture Studio combines tradition and innovation in their projects, and how this results in architecture that is both functional and culturally meaningful. The study offers insights into how respecting the past and embracing the future can lead to architectural designs that are not only aesthetically appealing but also have a deeper connection to their cultural and historical context.

Through this approach, we aim to provide a new vision of architecture, where buildings are not only seen as physical structures but also as carriers of stories, traditions, and cultural identity. It is an attempt to show how architecture can act as a bridge between generations, preserving the heritage of the past while adapting to the needs and aesthetics of the present.
